My approach to training and facilitation attempts to embody the core conditions of empathy, congruence and non-judgmental acceptance in the training context. This is a challenging proposition for both trainers and trainees, as the usual rules of education and learning are not adhered to.

Group Facilitation

I have experience of facilitating both small and large groups, including personal and professional development groups, encounter groups, and both structured and unstructured learning groups. I see group work as a collaborative exercise of working together to discover new understandings about how we come into relationship with each other. Though sometimes daunting, I see large groups in particular as having tremendous potential for personal growth.

Counselling training

I have delivered a variety of different types of training including counselling skills training, undergraduate programs, and Masters level courses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. In addition I have experience of designing and implementing custom course material, including submitting courses for validation.

I am currently working at the Auckland University of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand on their BHSc in Counselling program. Prior to this, I facilitated counselling training courses at both the University of Queensland and the University of Strathclyde.
